Mr. Umar Rashid was invited to deliver a lecture on Refugees in Pakistan: International Law, State Sovereignty and the Refugee Regime by The International Center for Refugees and Migration Studies (ICRMS) at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta, on 20th September 2019.
Mr. Umar spoke on the Afghan refugee situation in Pakistan with the context of international law and state sovereignty. He analyzed the obligations imposed by international law in dealing with refugees, the support and challenges faced by UNCHR in fulfilling its mandate, and the resulting situation of refugees in Pakistan.
